This is the personal blog of Christian Fürber. Christian is founder and CEO of the Information Quality Institute (, an independent consulting agency that offers solutions and services to improve Enterprise Information Quality.

Before founding the Information Quality Institute, he was working as a manager for Master Data Management and Data Governance at the logistics business process department of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). From 2005 until 2008, he was working as a project manager of a large data warehouse project of the Bundeswehr where he has dealt with the integration of data from over 30 heterogeneous information systems. Ever since he has started working with data, he has developed a strong interest in data quality management. Since 2008, he is also a researcher and PhD student at the E-Business & Web Science Research Group of the Bundeswehr University Munich. His main research interests are data quality issues related to databases, information systems, and the Semantic Web. In his PhD thesis, he is currently investigating how we can use Semantic Web technologies for data quality management. He graduated from the Bundeswehr University in Munich (Germany) with a Masters degree in Business Administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) in 2005. His majors were supply chain management, marketing, and finance. Christian has given talks at MIT in Boston and several other international conferences about his scientific and industry experiences.
